88 NA Starts and Dies After Spider Removal
I had to have my injectors cleaned, so while I had the UIM off I did the Spider and Emissions removal with block-off plates for EGR, Cold Start and ACV since cats are cleaned out seemed like a good idea to get rid of un-necessary parts. Also did throttle body mod and new air filter and fuel lines to the fuel rails from filter and return. Got car running and adjusted idle, runs good but has rough idle, has never been smoothe but kinda fluctuates between 800 and 1200 RPM. Very rich at idle as well. Drove around for a couple of days, much better take off and power through-out the entire RPM range. Let car sit for a week while I was out of town and have not been able to restart since. Cranks fine but starts and dies. Hitting throttle will not start at all. Checked fuel and have good flow but have not ck'd pressure, ck'd compression and 3 solid puffs at 90 psi, ck'd spark and plugs all good. Disconnected MAF still no start and finally blocked off BAC to make sure there was no vac leak there. Where do I need to go from here as I have ck'd and reck'd everything I replaced or changed and still no start

Understand, BAC was a last resort effort as I did notice a difference with the line from the intake tubing disconnected while the car was running. Has since been reinstalled.

Update. Checked fuel pump in tank and found prob. Fuel sock was plugged, collapsed and tore open, pump had volume but no pressure. Good excuse to upgrade to a Walbro 255 and do fuel pump wiring as well as new filter on frame. Just hope none of the **** in tank reached injectors

i see no update about verifying that there is no vacuum leaks, and most people who still say they have no vacuum leaks.. still have vacuum leaks.
if it ran fine before you worked on it, and afterwards it now has a start and stall condition- you have a vacuum leak!
get butthurt all you want about my sarcasm, it is a sour response because i have to read these threads every other day even though i always recommend leaving the emissions alone on the n/a 6 port engines. they do not hurt anything being there but they do hurt performance when removed.

You are right, I never said I checked for vacuum leaks, what I did say is I checked and rechecked everything I did which would include checking all vacuum lines, ports, gaskets and any other place where there might be a vacuum leak including injector seals. And I did not mention that it runs fine as long as I mist fuel through the throttle body. Yes I have been working on cars, trucks and bikes since I was a kid and I know what I am doing. Since you do not know me nor my car and how it runs don't assume a damn thing without asking first. I didn't ask for sarcasm when I posted this and I am sick and tired of smart *** comments on mine and other peoples posts from know-it-alls who don't know **** about the car nor the conditions they are commenting on. You don't like what I have to say, have a mod delete my *** otherwise keep your comments about what you think you know to yourself. And if you look through the archives as I did, there are at least 10 other posts similar to mine with not one answer as to why it happened.

Yes,it would be nice of you to share what you did to repair it.
This thread was viewed 256 times,so it is not like Guys were avoiding it.

Good to know and thanks for sharing.
It may not seem to be a "big" deal, but ANY Info shared on this Forum is Useful, even though it may seem Trivial.
After all, these cars run funny if you look at them the wrong way!
...ah man!..I got an oil leak now!..I just smiled..wtf?

I usually assume (although why, I don't know) that the car in question is in generally good condition (i.e., fuel tank NOT full of crap), that all the basics have been covered before the poster comes to us for advice.
Everything in your original post would suggest that the car was basically functional before all the mod work you performed, so it's easy to see why RE would insist you had vac leak issues...he probably assumed the same as I.

i have a feeling he just doesn't want to admit he found something else, but to each their own and i can't blame him because i can be a d-bag at times.
i just can't see a pump sock being the cause after working fine one day and not working right the next after emissions delete with a symptom of the fuel pump turning off after initial crank.

See, this is the problem/difficulty when someone posts questions like yours on a forum.
I usually assume (although why, I don't know) that the car in question is in generally good condition (i.e., fuel tank NOT full of crap), that all the basics have been covered before the poster comes to us for advice.

One would also assume that if the person says they checked and rechecked everything there might be something else that is causing the problem and that was my main point. Last I will say on that point or any other here.

"checked and re-checked EVERYTHING"..hmm...You missed the Fuel sock in the Tank,.
But,you said you checked that, according to you,as you "checked and rechecked everything".So Guys took that as you DID That already..so they went with the Obvious.Their mistake?..nope..
Don't look a gift horse(the resources of the Forum,it's members and their willingness to help) in the mouth and then turn around and kick it..That horse will kick you back..Harder.
You posted to get advice on this matter. The best advice for the Info given was posted.
Now,since your "dilemma" is over this subject should be over too.
It is time now for you to Go enjoy your car.
