MB 88 N/A vert u-joints-driveshaft

These seem to be unobtainable in Canada. Where can I get them in the USA?

The u-joints on the stock driveshaft are non-replaceable. You'll need a replacement driveshaft, or have a shop convert it over to replaceable versions. I had my old driveshaft rebuilt with replaceable joints for around $200.

There was a guy on the forum that found a place that sold just the u-joints and even had a how to on changing them. Dunno if his thread is still here but if you search through the old stuff you might be able to find it still.

I've was told by a rotory shop, a mazda dealer, and a driveshaft shop that the ujoints aren't replaceable. So I just went to a junkyard and got a driveshaft with good ujoints for like 30 bucks.

I found out a machine shop locally who can do that conversion. I don't see much point in putting anothe 22 year old driveshaft on the car, thanks for the tips guys.

I have a rebuilt driveshaft with replaceable u-joints that has maybe 100 miles on it. How much is that guy going to charge you for it? I can probably make you a better deal.

Yup,

Did mine a couple of weeks ago-----call them up, tell them what you want, You'll have them in about a week

One word of advice----run a paint line down your drive line before you press the caps out, this keeps the driveline "in phase" and you won't need to rebalance.
