88 n/a sunfoor issue

the sunroof in my rx7 wont close ,,,,
it is stuck about 3 inch's open
I have tried to hand crank it and it will move about an inch on the right side only ...
I droped the headliner and pulled out the roof and track assemb.
anyone know when i can take it just to get it closed ,,

I have tried everything i can think of , I dont care it is ever works again just want it to close ....

Or use an allen wrench to crank it shut using the spot on the motor/gearbox assy. Depends on WHY it stopped... Check for obstructions (gravel/sand/wood chips, who knows), electrical shorts, etc.

Follow micaheli's advice. Check for things in the track, if/when there's nothing in there remove the motor from the assembly (drop it as a unit)--See maicaheli's faq/write up and what not for a more detailed explination. push both sides of the sun roof forward and it should be able to be closed no problem. This however usually is best with the assembly still in the car. Check your motor, try to crank it while it's off of the assembly if you have issues with that then you've isolated the cause and you should probably do some TLC on it.

Well, I think he's already got the assy out... He should take the entire thing apart and clean it as per my write-up on my site.. after you clean it/relube it, it'll act like-new.

For sure, might as well since he's gone through the trouble. Hopefully it's not a siezed motor though.
