88 N/A Idle

My idle bothers me...
On start up engine revs to around 3000 and progressively drops to about 800 to 1000 over a span of about 40 seconds, occasionally stalling.
While driving usually idles at 1000 but occasionally flutters between 1000 to 1500.
Ideal idle is around 800 correct??

I just replaced all hoses, so I'm sure its not a vacuum leak. I plan on cleaning my injectors and replacing my 02 sensor. I have yet to make any adjustments to the idle set screw.

Am I just being picky or is there something else I should look into as well...

Any constructive suggestions or comments are much appreciated.

Some tech tips:

I have an 88 as well. Correct idle for our cars is 750 RPM. The car will want to (depending on how cold it is) warm up at 3000RPM. The best way to warm up your vehicle I found out is to actually drive it around while it's still 'cold'. You don't want to just sit in the driveway for your car temp to go up. You want your engine to gradually warm up with the oil temp and all that. So the shop told me to just drive it around and not let the rev go up beyond 3000RPM which is the warm up of the car anyways. Plus you get all the lubrication into all the gears. Anyways, hope this helps!

Peace,
AJ ^_^

You may also want to check your timing and your Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).

The 3000 RPM bit is to warm up the catalytics with the hope of reducing the emission level quickly, and is absolutely normal. A quick tap of the throttle will take it out of this mode. As well, I concur with jiz - 750 RPM is the correct idle speed.
