88 GXL Engine/Trans swap into 87 SE?
(this is the short version, the long version explains everything..)
So about 2 years ago, for my 18th birthday, i was given a 1988 Mazda RX-7 GXL for my birthday. Six weeks later it is totaled after getting hit in the side by a tow-truck.
Someone posts a Craigslist listing on my Car Club Website.
1987 RX-7 for sale $350 make an offer
Bascially, i was wondering how hard it is to take the engine and manual transmission from a 1988 GXL and swap it into an 87 (i think it is an SE, im not sure i havent actually gone to look at the car). the 87 is an auto, so i know the ECU has to be swapped as well.
is the swap basically the engine transmission and ECU or is it more involving?
Thoughts? Comments?
