'88 GTU Black Paint Color

I was wondering what the paint code is for '88 model year. I do not have the sticker on the driver's side door and can not find any type of cross-reference on the web.

Thanks

While I don't know off the top of my head, try checking on the firewall - that's where mine is.

I think its PZ, but I could be wrong. I do know the name of the color is Brilliant Black.

Thanks for the info. I looked on the firewall and the color is PZ. Does anyone know if it has a clear coat? I was under the impression that only metallic finishes for this model year got the clear coat but when I crossed referenced the paint color for touch-up (duplicolor), it specified a clear coat finish.

When factory painted there is no clear coat specific paint code. Clear is clear.

Icemark, I believe you misunderstood my question. What I am trying to find out is if my '88, Brillant Black(PZ) came from the factory with a clearcoat finish.

I tend to agree with mike, but there is a real easy way to tell.

If you find the most oxidized paint on the car (usually the hood if you took the liner out or the middle of the sunroof) and use a good polishing compound on it, does any black come off? If it does you don't have clear coat.
