Our '88 FC3C Hi All,
I heed some help. The electric window - drivers side - is stuck - down. The motor runs, but it sounds like the drive is out of alignment or damaged. I read that to remove the door trim I need to remove the "sail inner garnish". It just doesn't tell you how... I don't want to f it up while I'm trying to fix it. BTW - color me stupid. But, "garnish" & a "sail" too. What kinda car is this anyway?

How do I remove the door panel???

 

Look at the door panel and remove screws. There are also screws for the door handle. When all are removed, just lift the panel up and out. Look out for wires when doing this.

It very straight forward, so just do it and see for yourself.

 

You have to pop the door panel off. You first remove the screws, then take off the door handle plastic surround. Remove the window switch then pull in the door to pop the plastic holders out of there holes. Then you have a shot of behind the panel. Good luck.

 

Cool. Thanks. This is not my first door panel removal. It's just the first time on THIS car. Plus the book had me confused... I was almost there but when I pulled the panel it seemed like it was still attached at the top front edge just below the stationary side window. I guess when the book called for removal the "sail panel & garnish". Garnish means "trim" - yeah? OK, well then what is a sail panel? My guess is the stationary window... kinds looks like a sail - if I close one eye & cover my other eye with my hand.
Bummer. I don't want to remove the window if I don't have to. Gary

 

Sail = Triangular plastic part, usually fractured when first attempting to remove it.

When you have the whole panel loose, you have to remove the sail piece to be able to lift the panel off where it hooks at the top.

 

Cool. That's the one panel I didn't try to remove. And I must not be the first either - it's already cracked...
