88 FC with 13BT REW

hey i have a 88 GXL rx7 N/A and i blew the engine so i went out and bought a 3rd gen engine with tranny, i got HKS SUS CAI, Greddy PRofec B-spec II boost control, custom made FMIC and ported wastegates on stock turbos so far, and i was wondering what other mods i should do just for a little extra kick, i want to get all new suspension but dont know what to go with. Also was wondering what i should set the boost at with the ported turbos, there only stock for now and im going to upgrade everything in this car so if you got any info for anything that would help, thanks fellow RX7 lovers!!!! -Mike.

What ECU do you plan on using, do you have the proper engine mounts?

better get it in there running and driving before you do anything else.
Just a friendly bit of advice from someone who is doing the same swap

are you planning to run the turbos sequentially or non seqential? you're really pushing it on stock ECU with those mods, it may run lean. remember that the FD ECU has no AFM stock. Consider an aftermarket standalone. The Power FC is the most common on that engine, but because you'd have to modify the FD harness so much you're probably better off wiring up something else like a Haltech.

If you run non sequential on stock ECU you will need to install resistors in the harness plugs or you will throw codes, which of course you won't be able to read easily.

I hear that there's a few ways to sort out the mounts. Either tap the center iron for FC mounts, buy custom motor mount adapters or make your own adapters.

Where on Vancouver Island?
If you ever need a hand, PM me and I'll come by.

But yeah, good idea making your own mounting setup, these adapters suck.

Use their advice and go with a Haltech or something, you're going to be dumping a lot of money in it anyways, might as well put it in something that matters

Swap wasn't that hard, its sorting out the pieces to make the FC stuff work with the FD stuff. Now I'm dealing with small things such as leaks and junk, but its a part time project that I'm in no rush to finish.

Make sure you research every little thing, it makes it a lot easier. Examples are vacuum lines, water hoses, oil lines, etc.

A Haltech is a standalone ECU where you take apart your stock engine harness and splice the connectors to the haltech's harness. It allows you to tune the car appropriately so you don't blow anything up. They can be had for $600-$1300 (used vs. new, older models, etc)

Take your time, you'll do fine until you run out of money a few times or get sick of spending all of your time/money on it like I have, but it was a great learning experience.

Yeah I know the wages, but I'm tired of getting the whole "Why are you applying if you have no experience" story.
And yes, then I'd have to live in Alberta, oh well.

Oh, btw, I noticed you're using a 3rd gen transmission.
You will have to swap out your slave/master cylinders because the two generations have a different setup. The FC is a push pull type clutch system.
Something like that, but you're in luck because the TII clutch/P-plate bolts to an FD flywheel and the TII transmission bolts to the REW as well

No one will trade you a $1000 ecu for a blown NA lol.
You'd be lucky if someone takes it for free (depending if its an apex that went)

But do yourself a favor and just buy the TII trans/clutch/slave
