I just found these online... has anyone used them or definitively know if they fit?

Mine stays up only on its conditions.

I want some badass strong ones, so when I pull the release the trunk lid rockets up.

i can get stainless ones for that price, check into a marine supply near you

you dont want them TOO strong, otherwise it could potentially put the trunk out of alignment because it will be forcing it up, you want "just enough"

The challenge to replacing trunk struts is the bracket that mounts to the trunk lid. Looking at the picture it kinda looks like they provide a bracket, but hard to tell. Only way to be sure is to get a set. PLEASE REPORT BACK as this is an ongoing problem for Vert owners, especially if they have a wing/duckbill spoiler as two of my Verts have.

The link TOM0261 provided is one where I presented a part I had fabricated so I could mount struts you can get at any AutoZone, Pep Boys, O'Reillys, etc. Machine shop charges me $20 each, and I pass them on for $20 plus shipping so I at least stay even. With mine you can choose the strength of the strut lift. For instance, my Vert with the spoiler goes up by itself when I pull the release. Same for the one with the Duck Bill.

Just called and spoke with one of the installers at the shop. He said it's a direct bolt-in replacement and they're 25lbs of lift apiece. They're a bit pricey though... $76 with shipping for the pair.

Mine are almost dead, but not quite. The lid will stay up on its own, but if you move it just a couple inches it will fall the rest of the way.

I'm going to see how they do in the summer once it warms up a bit, and if they don't improve any, I'll probably pick these up.

*edit* I just found these on ebay.. looks a little cheaper than buying them direct through their website:

Did you totally ignore the post that had the thread about the Nissan part? Just do that, and you will only need one.

seems pretty simple to me, one strut, drill out current pin, install new bolt

these type of parts are universal, you look for the length when compressed, and extended, and how much weight it can support. I get them through my marine supply in stainless steel, even the 10mm bolt is stainless steel

No, I did not ignore the post about the Nissan part. I did that on my last Vert and it tweaked the deck lid from the extra pressure.

Again, I asked if anyone had any information on the lifts I listed in my original post, not if there were other options.

I prefer to stick with two less powerful struts instead of one that's much too strong for the application.

You can always buy Mazda trunk lid struts from me. I work at the dealer and am looking into ordering them for my vert. Each strut from my dealer is $124. A lot better than the $200 list price tag lol.

i show 15"' extended, 9.5 compressed, with a 5.5" stroke, prices ranging from $10 for steel to about $35 for full stainless steel versions, with 20lb capacity, and 15" extended, 9" compressed with 6" stroke as well

most of them jump to 40lb capacity after that

2 20lb'ers has to be the ticket, 2 40lb'ers would surely twist the trunk, one would probably twist it as well

You have brands and part numbers available, Rob? Monroe doesnt list the specifications of their Max-lift struts, just the application. All part of the trend for auto parts stores to be staffed more and more like McDonalds.

i buy them from my own suppliers- but one would be attwood sl13 such as http://www.iboats.com/Attwood-Gas-Sp...view_id.446090

ball stud sl69 http://www.iboats.com/Stainless-Stee...view_id.446135

http://www.iboats.com/Gas-Springs-15...view_id.731352

I have another in my books made by ameritool, those are the inexpensive ss and steel versions, but I cant seem to find a retail outlet for them right now, their website has them at $20 each for the steel versions but I know I pay about $9 for them http://www.ameritoolmfg.com/catalog....showprevnext=1

there are also stainless brackets sold, one of them might line up with the vert's holes in the trunk, if someone measures the spacing on the bolts I can see if there are stainless brackets that will fit, otherwise drill out the stock ball and use one I linked or similar, I know the ones I linked you can use a standard 5/16"x18 nylon nut so you dont have to worry about trying to tap threads into the original bracket

When your trunk lid got tweaked were you using one lift or two? I just put two of the strong arm 4524 lifts in and got nervous when I read your comment.
