88 Convertible runs poorly in the cold

I have an 88 convertible which running like sh_t when it gets cold.. When I start is until it warms up I smell gas and it blows smoke and runs really rough when it warns up it runs great but it often floods when I stop it and I sometimes have to crank it with the fuel pump fuse pulled before it will start.. I have replaced the fuel dampener and rebuildt the injectors.. no change .. I had the compression checked a year ago at Cork Sport and they said it was okay but commented that the car was slow.. anybody got any ideas..it was like this last winter but got better in the spring and has been fine all summer

Pull codes. Might point you to a malfunctioning sensor (I am going with waterthermo)..
