Question 88 convertible brakes

I need to have a brake job done as the pads are shot. I would like to do an upgrade to the calipers and rotors and am looking for suggestions other than Big Brake that would cost $1500 and up per axle. I am looking to get a more modern brake system and have a good look for when I upgrade from stock rims. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

stock is fine for 99% of people. unless you are racing or putting down a lot of power, some good pads and SS brake lines are all you should need.

Well if you don't mind using your stock calipers in the rear and slightly modified stock calipers for the front, there are some cheap options that give you more leverage and better heat dissipation.

$495 for front brakes

$334 for rear brakes

4 and 5 Bolt?

May sound a little lame, what is the difference between the 4 and 5 bolt brakes? Is it the studs that you bolt the rim to?

4 is soft suspension and 5 lug is hard( according to the Parts fishe)
now,the 4 lug uses single piston calipers,\
Your Convertable uses 5 lug Vented rotors,..single piston rear and 4 piston fronts.
Why you would want to put 1500 dollars worth of brakes on a Vert N/A is beyond me though.,
I got a Coupe and a Vert..the VERT is Slow as Molasses.
get some Stainless steel braided lines and a set of EBC green stuff pads, cross drilled rotors, you are set.

misterstyx69, thank you for giving me a clear understanding of the information I will need to order parts. You are correct, the vert is for cruising and looking good while still being able to keep poser racers in their place. Thanks again for your post.
