88 Anniversary A Good buy?

Well a guy i know has a 88 Anniversary RX.
It has a blown engine and is out of the car.
Not sure about the mileage (forgot to check).
The back window is broken but he has a spare.

The interior is pretty bad. I only glanced in but the seats were cracked beyond hideous. I am thinking I can get it with the engine and everthing for around 800 Dollars.

The body looks good except the front bumper skin thing. It has flaking paint and it shows red paint under it. I am thinking he reaerended someone and bought a new one.

It has 1 broken driver side mirror and it has i think 2 of the orig wheels. Only saw orig's on front while some 3rd gen wheels were on the rear.

I'm looking for a 5 lug RX to mod and this sounds pretty good. I could swap some stuff like interior from my 88 SE.

I know its rare but it is in bad shape. The exterior shows its a 88AE. It's got the badges and painted rear light surrounds, the rims , and leather interior.

The engine is gone but I heard the turbo is still good.
I was thinking of getting a rebuilt engine and slapping it in.

Turbo charged motors tend to have to be rebuilt at an earlier age In contrast to n/a's. Thats the nature of the beast. Really, fix It up, rebuild the motor and be a proud owner of an AE. Dale, also whom owns an AE has this site that maybe of Interest to you http://rx7.freeservers.com/

Buy it for as cheap as you can. Talk him down further than $800. Especially if he doesn't know how rare the 88AE's are.

Dude, I bought my RUNNING FINE T2 for $100. You should be able to get it cheaper, especially since it sounds so thrashed... As for the seats, I can get a hook up for some nice aftermarket seats if I can get enough people in on it... how does $290 a pair sound?
