88' AE fc help?

i came across a 1988 10th anniversary Rx7. it has a rebuilt streetport with super low miles on it. the only problem is that the guy doesnt have it running. He says that there is a broken sparkplug on the rear rotor housing and the oil lines to the turbo are pinched off. wtf? is this an easy fix? any help would be coo. thanks guys.

See exaclty what he means by a broken spark plug on the rear rotor? if it just need replace or what? also He or who ever installed the motor problay kinked the oil line going to the turbo but find out for sure!! I would be a little more skeptical on the car to what is really the problem. if it was a easy fix like he is describing it. Why would he not fix it and sell the car for more $? in any event find out a little more detail about the car. who built the motor, mods... and how much is he asking for it?

well I personaly would not pay that much $ for a rx7 that is not running. for all you know their could be multiple problems with it besides the oil line etc... even though it is a anniv. how many miles on the chassie. i would say $1200 top dollar is all i would offer with out knowing more details. (hows the body? paint? interior? suspension?)

IIRC the owners of that 10th ae came on the forum a few months ago asking about how to get the spark plug out. I think the result was that the engine would probably have to be rebuilt to take the spark plug out from the inside or suggestions of using easy outs to get it out. Dont quote me on any of that but you might want to search for that thread I dont remember the title. It may be a totally different car since I read it a while back.

That AE needs tons of work. The spark plug hole is cross threaded and needs to be retapped. Which means opening up the engine again and you break some seals when you open it up. Costs more money for parts and labor. Got to remove the engine too. The engine has been overheated too and was boosting incorrectly. Its not a theft title too, its from a crash. Notice the front bumper on it has been replaced. Needs new paint and the interior needs to be fixed up bad. The power steering isn't even hooked up. The wiring is horrible as it has been cut to try to run an aftermarket EMS.

How do I know all this??? I personally know the previous, previous owner. Some 16-17 year old kid. You can ask the current seller, he was an asian kid. Got rid of it FAST. Stay away from this AE unless you can dump 4 grand minimum to make it original condition again. Not including labor too. Jack up another 1.5-2 grand for that. Its only good for parts. Got more questions?? private message me. Just don't want to see another kid get into a worthless project.

Wow, sounds like a nightmare. I wouldn't buy it if it really has been wrecked. If it really was a theft salvage I would pay 1k for it, no more. That's if I had the time to work on it myself.

Yeah man, I wouldn't pay more than 1 grand for it. Just part it out.

holy sh*t, when i went and looked at the car yesterday it looked alright.but the only thing that really got me was the friggin sross threaded spark plug. not trying to flame on <owners name> hes a cool guy and all but he claimed that then only real problems were the turbo oil feed lines, the cross threaded spark plug, and the body. <owners name> said it even turned over and wanted to start. interesting i was about to buy this thing. i dunno know any more i dont really have 4 or 5 grand to spare. thanks for all the info guys.
