Something weird going on here.

Anyway,
My question is, On the 86-88 N/A motor there is a port on top in the center housing. What is this for?

Thanks,
Mike

Well, I think I just found out that it's the EGR port. Does this port go to the intake?
I have a 86-88 motor in my 89 vert. I'm looking for a big vacume leak and can't find it in the manifold. This port is blocked off but I think it may be the cause of my leak. Could this be it?

Thanks,
Mike

Yes, I believe it could be the cause. That is where the EGR valve bolts on, on 86-88 N/As. It doesnt "go" anywhere, its just where the valve is located.

It feeds exaust gas to the intake ports. You might make sure that when you take the plate off, that they did not leave a path from one hole under there to the other hole.

On a 86-88, if you ever looked at the exaust gasket with the exaust manifold off, you'd see the gasket has one approx half inch hole in it. That is the beginning of the path to the top of the intermediate housing where the egr is mounted. The egr opens when a suction is put on its vac line, and sends exaust air from the exaust hole to the other hole which goes to the intake ports.

Thanks. Thats just the info I needed. I just pulled the manifold off for the 4th time this weekend and when I took the block off plate off I found that the gasket was blown out. I HOPE this is my problem. By your explanation it sounds like it is..

Thanks,
Mike
