87 turbo upgrade questions
I know this is a long post full of noob questions, but if you have some time please bear with me.
What the car has:
Microtech LT-8 engine management
walbro 255 fuel pump
Medium street port ~28K miles on rebuild.
Stock turbo w/ 32mm ported wastegate, no twin scroll
Joe P MBC set at 10psi
no AC, no emissions
no OMP
K&N air filter
I will update this later tonight with more specific info on the internals of the engine and port job.
What I want:
To go from 240 hp to 300-315 hp
What I plan to do:
FMIC.
Stage 2 turbo upgrade from rx-7store.com.
Injectors.
Have the Microtech lt8 tuned.
Variable boost controller that can be changed on the fly, this would be nice but not necessary.
What I am looking for from you guys:
Advice and ideas
Will the mods I’m looking at get me the 300 hp I want?
Who should I take the car to for a tune? (I live about 3 hr. south west of Washington DC)
How much boost will it take to get to the 300-315 hp level? I’m thinking 15-18 psi.
Will the engine hold the extra boost?
Which injectors should I use?
Which boost controller?*
I have a small FMIC, with no pipe. Do I get the pipe made, or buy a kit with a bigger FMIC and the pipe (and if so which kit)?*
Do you think that I can do this for less then 3,000?
Is this generally a good approach?
Will this kill reliability? It’s not a D. D., but I would like it to start and run when I want it to.
* At some point when I have enough engine to back it up I will probably want to bump up the hp again, so keep that in mind.
(This used to be impulsive-rx7 black car, FYI)
Don’t feel that you have to answer all of my questions, if you have input on just one point that is welcome.
Thanks, David

Up date with more rebuild info,
3rd gen corner seals/springs
Stock 3 piece apex seals
Port matched intake manifolds/gaskets
Street ported
I thought I had more info than that, I might try e-mailing the guy that had the car when the motor was built.

you can definatly achieve your hp goal wih these mods. if you have a good tune and it is not a daily driver and you take care of it it will be a great car that you can count on. the tune is everything.
