87 Turbo II or 88 RX-7 GX

Hi
This is my first time owning a different car than my civic.

here are my choices

87 RX-7 Turbo II
200,000 KM
need downpipe
RIMS

$4000 CDN
with is $2600 USD

or

88 RX-7 GX
160,000 KM on body
60,000 KM on rebuilt engine
MOMO stuff
mags
suspension

$3800 CDN or $2300 USD

Which one do you think i should consider?
What is hp numbers for both cars?

thanks

GXL it is.
hp: about 140
TII
hp:about 180
this may vary because the cars are so old, so don't be surprised if you're not making that power. The GXL will won't be nearly as fast and doesn't have the strong transmission and rearend of the TII. Drive each, the choice is ultimately yours.

If you want to go fast (but also reduce reliability) then get the turbo ii. The motor is kind of old, Id do a compression test. Low comp = replace soon. If you want a fun car to autocross or whatever in get the GXL.

The TII's engine is a little long in the tooth (mine went at 204 000 km, which is good for a TII engine).

$4000 is a decent price for a TII here in Canada. Maybe talk the owner down a bit. Hey its only $200 more than the GX.

Make sure to budget for a re-build ($2000)

Ultimately, the TII is the better performance car, with more upside. It would be my choice, having owned both NA and TII...

it's not really more mods, it's the fact that those mods make so much more power. turbos engines like mods.
