87 Tii Wont Start Wtf??????

ok, my car has been running good since i put new exhaust gaskets on it 2 weeks ago, idles a little rough at 650 but otherwise runs good, anyhow today i was sitting in my drive way and i cranked it up, let it run for a minute and then was messing with something else and my girl said your car is dying and i looked up and it died, no problem right maybe it flooded etc, so i try to crank it, nothing, cut the ingition off and start cranking again, the RPM gauge doesnt even show the engine rotating ( i know that is the answer b/c when i pull the fuel pump whatever fuse in the engine there to deflood it, it doesnt show it rotating either) at any rate it is not showing it rotating but its turning over good and has good compression and a 3/4 tank of gas, new plugs and wires ( about a 1000 miles) help please!!!!!

Not sure why or what not but sounds like it has stopped getting gas to the engine. Check your pump, it may be messed. Does it smell like gas when you try to start it? That can sometimes tell you your pump or injectors are messed. Not sure really though.

You could try to start it like you would if starting the car (with the EGI fuse installed and such). Then pulls your plugs and see if they are wet at all. If not then your probably not getting any fuel to the engine. Thats what I think at least. Good luck with it.

thanks but the fuel pump and filter are new (very new like a month or two) but tomorrow i am going to try and crank it and check to see if fuel is coming in, but i dont think it is b/c the rpm gauge is not even bliping as the engine turns,

you know how you pull the egi fuse when it is flooded and turn it over to flush the fuel out and the rpm gauge doesnt register anything, its like that except the fuse is installed and ok

fuel filter and pump are new, i havent pulled the plugs to see if they are wet, alternator is fine, engine spins over fast (like usual) and why would i put ATF if the compression is already good??? also wouldnt it go through my turbo after???
like i said though the RPM gauge is not even showing that the engine is trying to crank (ZERO rpm) even though it usually blips with each turn of the engine the car has always fired right up. the fuses looked good through the clear plastic on top but i didnt take it apart to see


i have been driving it for a couple weeks almost every day with out any problems and thats why i think its something electronic somewhere i dont know help
