87 TII injector question?

I did a search, and a few things were unclear, so im going to ask this...
are the injectors on an 87 TII top/side feed.... and are they high/low impedence?
thanks

also, how are the marren 870cc injectors? are they worth buying, or are they cheap and useless?
thanks

ALL FC fuel injectors are top feed.

It depends...

They are "useless" unless you have a way to control the extra capacity.
Do not assume you can just drop them in and have everything work peachy-keen.

Check resistance of your injectors with a multimeter. ~2.5 ohms or lower and they are low imp, higher and they will be high imp.

Well look st the plugs.

If the notch on it is offset it's High impedance.
If the notch is centered it's low impedance.

I used a high impedance TII harness in my swap.
Primaries were high impedance and secondaries were low impedance(most after market are so that's why I put them there)

You just have to cut the little notch off the injector to make it fit in the plug.

Here's my thread on it.

You'd actually be testing resistance. Go to Radio Shack and pick up a $30 multimeter, they come in real handy. Better safe, than sorry.

i did a carfax report, and it stated that my car was manufactured in september of 86... does this mean i have low imp?

Smells like bullshit to me...unless it's an Rtek unit?
I don't know of ANYONE who remaps the stock ECU to handle larger fuel injectors.

It sounds like it...

Why don't you peek at your (secondary) fuel injectors located just under the "hump" in the upper intake manifold?

i did that, and they look to be red.... granted, i did not remove the whole upper intake bc i am getting tired of the work in the past week (i've removed and reinstalled the turbo 9 times bc of a coolant leak). but from what i could see, they appear to be red.

i got it from reamia on teamfc3s.org, and he seems like a good guy from what i've seen... also, the computer is labeled as remapped. Plus, as soon as i threw it in my car, i started to run a lot better under boost (i was severely leaning out under wot, and now im just one notch above rich).

Red or pink would peg them as high impedence ones.

If they are low impedence, they would look purple, tan, or brown.

If you have low imp there will be a resistor about 4inches long under your air box. Since your car was built in 86 I bet they are low imp.

do you have a pic of the resister/ is there any writing on it that would let me know that it is it? I no longer have an airbox, so i cant really look under it.
thanks

Look at my post above and it will answer your Q as to if it is high or low.

Also Reted My low and High imp look the same. Both a redish color.

The low imp will show a resistance of about 2.2-5 and the high are 12's.

It is most likely low impedance since 86. Also,Since you have no airbox it will make it easier to see the resistor box.

From what I could see of mine when I had the part off it just looks like a few ceramic blocks with wires running between them, I guess Im not sure though, I couldnt get the cover off mine.
