87 TII Flooding and rough idle?

Ok I think my engine might be low on compression here is the deal.

What should a normal compression gauge read for a turbo motor to be good on compression when testing each rotor. 100? psi. I don't want to spend $100.00 having Mazda do it.

2) my car floods every time I try to start it. What else could cause this? I have to disconnect the relay under the dash crank it then plug it back in everytime!!! to get it started.

3) at idel 850rpm the motor shakes and is missing. I have my timing on the money and no vac leaks. would low compression cause this as well?

4) can I be running on 1 1/2 rotors? my rear rotor I'm speculating is the one that will be more then likely low. I think one face of the rear rotor has no compression if that is possible?

5) what is a healthy number if i have Mazda do a compression test with a rotarty compression gauge?

6) it is a 87 TII with 84k org miles. but had been sitting in a salvage lot due to a fire for about 2 years, I re did the fire mess and have drove it for 20k miles till now it its acting up!!!. any help is appreciated.. thanks

It sounds like low compression. I had the same thing happen to my motor that had 196,000 orignal miles on it. It start up fine in the morning and then when I went somewhere and turned it off and tried to start her up again it would flood REALLY bad...took one time I think 8 times to unflood the thing. Mine would run but would hessitate top end and then the compression went on the front rotor but it still ran...really bad though.

Do you have a boost gauge? If so, check to see what your vacume says at idle. It should be anywhere from 15-17 vac...if it's close to 10 then you probably have a weak motor.

Aslo, one good thing to check would be the stock TID (turbo inlet duct) to see if it has a crack in it.

Best thing to do is buy a compression gauge and check the rotors that's the only way you will tell what's going on. You should see 100 psi minimum. If they compression is fine, get your injectors cleaned...they might be leaking.

Hope this helps.

Mike

u know what u can do i had the same problem and i lost compression on my tII and it was sitting for like a year so basically i took all spark plugs out and the egi fuse and cranked it for about 15 secsand then i pumped atf fluid into the spark plug holes (note: everytime you pump it into all the holes crank it so rotor turns over) then do it again until you get all around the rotors. Let the car sit for about 48 hours then put everthing back and start it. basically the atf will eat up all the dirt and gunk around the rotors(note:there will be alot of smoke at first so try to do it at night)
