Alot of people thisk that the SE is a Special Edition model or something. I looked through the autotrader.com and there were a bunch of people that thought that their cars were worth like 2X what they are usually sold for. One guy was asking $4k for one! Alot of the people that list their cars there don't know what they have. Alot of them think they have a 4 cylinder. Pfft..

There was no different editions on the 87, maybe he has it confused with a 88 that had the T2 and the 10thAE T2

some 87s are actually 86s by build date..aren't they? Therefore the might call those "86" 87 models series 1 and the true 87s series 2?

There are some differences actually. Like high or low impedence injectors on the the 87 TIIs. No rare, or valuable qualities though.

The injectors switched on model years.

The 88 production started 7/87, which is when the injectors changed on the T2

I asked and asked and everyone said that just the first 87s had different impedence injectors. Glad I haven't bought any fuel injectors yet.

well it can be very confusing for people the difference between production year, and model year.

By production year the 87 RX-7 was built in both 86 and 87. So some people could incorrectly identifty a USA spec T2 as a 86 model.

But by model year the 87 RX-7 was built from 6/86 through 7/87.

And the 88 model year actually started being built in 7/87 and production went to almost december of 88.

And the FC 91 model year is another one of those that confuses people, for example the FC 91 models were built to the end of 8/91. BUT FD models started production (as 92 model year) in early december of 91.

But the 92 models (only 'verts or FD's) were built. According to Mazda from Jan 92 to sept 92; 92 model year FC 'verts were made (but no other FC models). With production of FD's starting again in October of 92.

So people claim to have 92 model year coupe FC's but none were made, other than 'verts (again according to Mazda Japan) and would I bet even money if the VIN number was checked on the so called 92 model year coupes it would not show "N" in the 10th (model year) digit.
