87 RX7 question

hi, i am new to this forum and i do not YET own an RX7, before i do, i need some advice, that is why i came here. I am interested in an 87 RX7. The one i am looking at says the model is a 13B ROTARY. I am assuming that the engine either cant start or needs a rebuild. I was wanting to make this RX7 into a perfermance car, and i was wondering, if its a good buy, and what is the best engine i can swap in it for performance?

its for $1000 CND, says he can negotiate, the body is VERY nice, so im assuming the engine might be blown. i just wanna know which engine i can get the best performance out of. money isnt a big factor because im paying under $1000 CND for it, and i saved $5000 for a new car.

5000-1000 CND = 4000 CND left over. 4000 is not enough to swap in any other engine that is better than the 13B. A 20B, would cost you quite a bit, 10000+, and a V8 swap is probably about 6000+. Money IS an object with these cars, heh.

Well, the RX-7 is already a performance car, so you won't have to do much work to make it into one...

Why do you think it won't start and will need a rebuild? Is it being advertised as such?

Also, take a look at the FAQ for a "How To Buy" guide.
