87 rx7 n/a ACV block off reasonable?

Tried searching but I'm getting a lot of Turbo threads. I have an 87 gxl project race car and I'm wondering if blocking the air control valve would up my hp a bit! Any inputs?

Nope. No HP. However, s4s don't use the air pump for the 5/6 port actuators, so if your state allows it you really don't need that system. Cleans up that side of the engine bay a lot if you remove it. Just throw on a yoohoo belt for the water pump.

removing the ACV does simplify the engine/engine bay, so in a race car it makes sense to remove it

Of course weight reduction is always good but no time for all that this weekend. Racing Sunday n I need to put Comet back together to make the event. Plus next summer I'll swap a 93 13b tt in it n save my s4 for another project n rebuild it b4 swapping. Thanks tho.
