Red face 87 NA AT vacuum question

I busted one of the two vacuum delay valves on the throttle body while replacing some hoses. Specifically the one that goes between the innermost nipple on the thermo valve and the nipple under the throtle body. Is it going to make a huge difference to run without it, or is it no big deal? Secondly, which way is the check valve off of the thermo valve supposed to face?
