87 NA tranny in 89 NA

I will be putting a 87 NA tranny into a 89 NA, price and availibilty is why. I think i am to reuse the 89 tranny mount on the 87 tranny to make it fit the 89 gtu. Can anyone verify this because if its the other way around i would neet to get the 87 mount.

As far as what i have heard is that you cant put a 87 Na tranny into a 89 Na because of the counterweights of the rotors but im not totally sure.

I think you are getting the tranny confused with the flywheel, i'm not changing the flywheel, i'm just changing the tranny. You cant use a 89 flywheel in a 87 because the rotors are different and require different counter weighs and the flywheel is one of them. Anyone else?

I don't think you will have aproblem with it because I plan on putting an 87 T2 tranny in my 89 NA and flywheel is only major difference between the series 4 and 5.

Just a note for you guys doing a swap between a series 4 and series 5 tranny, basically if you have a series 5 and put in a series 4 tranny you need to use the series 4 mount. The reason is that the mounts are not interchangeable between the trannys, but the mounting on the series 5 looks more solid. The mounting points for the frame on either series is the same.
