87 intercooler on 89 engine

I just put my rebuilt 89 TII motor in my 87TII, but for some reason my 87 intercooler does not fit, is it suppose to fit. I'm running the japanese lim and uim, not that i should matter.

Japanese or US doesn't matter. The S4 and S5 intake manifolds are slightly different in hieght, so the intercooler mounting brackets are also slightly different to suit. You need a S5 intercooler for it to fit properly.
