87 gxl diff into 89 gxl... bolt in? or need more than the pumpkin?

I have read and heard conflicting information, so I would like to get my own confirmed response...

I have an s4 gxl lsd that I'd like to put in my s5 gxl. Do I need to install the s4 gxl halfshafts w/ the lsd?

and what exactly is the process in swapping the diffs out...? is it easier if i unbolt the catbacks? leave them in? etc...

thanks in advance!

Bolt right in... the non turbo half shafts are the same regardless of year or options.
