87 GXL BRAKE problem

I have had trouble with my brakes for sometime now. I have been loosing a lot of fluid from my resivour and now my brake pedal applies nearly no pressure to stop the car. I checked the brakes and I am not losing any fluid there, is the master cylinder bad? Should I just bleed them?

I also have an '87 GXL with minor brake troubles

I have to take it in acctually tommorrow err uhh or tonight.. (whenever friday is I am running on no sleep)

To get them bled, I would do it myself but I just want it done quick so I get it back on the road.

The resovoir is like way below the 'min' line so I will have to see if after they bleed them, flush it out, and replace fluids if the fluid level stays constant. Otherwise I will be in the same boat as you. I will let you know.

I have heard of the resovoir itself being cracked, but if you said nothing is coming out of there then I am not sure, definitly loosing fluid somewhere though, it just don't dissapear.

If the fluid level goes down, and there is no evidence of leaking fluid at the calipers or around the master cylinder, then its most likely leaking into the booster where you can't see it. Eventually if you keep replacing the fluid, the booster will fill up and the fluid will be sucked into the intake and go out the exaust.

That means that the master cylinder is leaking from the rear and either needs to be rebuilt or replaced.
BTW, I have a new one, if ya need it, email me at smithkjnc@earthlink.net.
Thanks!
Joe
