87 exhaust mod do's and donts

Hey people,
I recently purchased a second gen, after owning two first gen's it seems to be the same but different.
Currently I dont have the loot for what Im going to do to it. Is there any one who can tell me why I shouldent remove the air pump. Also that stupit mass air sensor.
All that crap can come off as far as Im concerned.
Thanks: evilgrin:

Well the air pump feeds fresh air to the main cat so it will burn up if you remove the air pump. You can just empty the main cat and then take the air pump off, easy/cheap solution. Don't mess with the AFM though.

Yea, you cant remove the AFM really, car wont run well at all, it need the signal from it. And if you need to pass emissions ( i.e.: need a catalytic converter), you need to keep the air pump also.

It is a n/a 87 no mods yet.
I got ya, so who other than Racing Beat sells the cap off plates once I remove the airpump?
Also I have several parts for first gen for sale or trade.

How do you plan on opening your 5th and 6th ports with no airpump, and a free flow exhaust system?

I'd keep the airpump, and open them with it, because hopefully, once you get your exhaust done, you won't have backpressure anyway!
