My friend Derrick owns a 1987 Audi Coupe GT and he seems to think that it is pretty hot ****. His brow even says Hot **** Tuning across it. He always has a very nice way of telling me and my other friend Vinnie, who owns a 1996 Mitsubishi 3000 GT SL, that our cars suck and they're slow. Does anyone know how the 1988 GXL compares to the Coupe stock wise? Derrick claims that his car has over 400 hp, I was looking for some ideas to get my RX up around 450-500 hp. Answers, opinions and information welcome.

p.s. Derrick was going to buy the RX(my car), but he couldn't get approved for the loan.

 

The coupe GT has 400HP?? I dont even think those were turbo. I think the quattros were turbos. Not sure how the cars compare, if hes NA then it should be a close race.

About getting your car to 500HP, its easy.

Get a Turbo II Drivetrain. Get T78 turbo. Haltech. FMIC. Injectors/pump. And some other stuff i missed like exhaust etc.

Then you need suspension and brakes and wheels.

No problem.

 

400 hp on a N/A?? Um....sorry, but thats not gunna happen. And I if he is stock hes not CLOSE to that either.

i have an 87 COUPE GT!!!! 5cylinders of FURY!!! they are quick but nothing amazing probably a 7 second 0-60. mine also had rebuilt engine with the head shaved for higher compression. i don't like 3k gt's especially sl's. if you have full exhaust on your gxl and intake it should be faster than his coupe GT.

 

If it's a turbo Coupe GT, called the 'urQuattro', then yes, be *very* afraid.
Those urQuattros can make 900hp before puttering out

 

Well, I have known him for about a year and the only thing I for sure that he has is performance exhaust. He claimed that he had the only one in my area, but I saw another one which was a turbo and he just said that he sold him the badges. I know his isnt a turbo, because he said with all of his "mods" that he's getting about 400hp.
