'87-88 AFM position

Has anyone tried different AFM positions for the '87-88?
Someone on the list said level and 1/4 turn counterclock worked.
Anyone else?
I think the problem I have is the AFM . As of now, the AFM inlet side is turned downward about 20 degrees because of the piping for the front mount. After checking everything for the hesitation problem above 7psi, the AFM position might be a culprit.
