86 NA wont run on its own

First of all, the engine flooded and I used the unflooding method many times. I got it to the point where it starts but quickly dies. I figured I would use the ATF method and it didnt help. Then we used starting fluid when the engine started up and it would rev with each spray and bod down when I hit the gas. Obviously its a part of the fuel system, but which part? I hear the fuel pump click when I turn the key. So, is it the injectors or the filter?

You'll need to totally unflood the car to get it running correctly.

First, just use a push start. Push starting will ALWAYS work no matter how badly flooded or how low the compression.

Before you do this, change the spark plugs. Your old ones are likely fouled with fuel, oil and ATF.

It may take some time to burn off all the gunk in the chambers. Hold the engine at whatever RPM it will run at until it smooths out.

If you are getting a lot of black smoke, then there is another problem. Injectors have been known to stick open or leak.

What smoke is a bad thing.

With the car STONE COLD, remove the rad cap and start it up. Rev it a few times. So you see a steady stream of bubbles that increases when you rev it? If so, the a coolant o-ring has been compromised and combustion gasses are being forced into the coolant.

White smoke=burning antifreeze, a sweet smell will follow from the exhaust.
