TX 86 na no dash lights

I have a 86 na, with no dash lights working, fuses good, and all other lights work, including parking lights. Bought the car this way so i have no idea how long they have been out.86 na no dash lights-cimg0574.jpg

I'm assuming that your talking about the lights that illuminate your gauges from behind right. Either the lights have just burned out over time behind there or there is a loose connection back there to. Also check your actuall switch is not burned out. I had an issue with that in my 86 the headlight switch burned up the wiring harness plugged into it, caused my tailights to not work. Replaced the harness and switch and they work like a charm. If you need parts check out apexautoparts.net .

When you turn the headlight **** it should cause voltage to be passed from the White/Green wire to the Red/Green wire at the headlight harness. If it doesn't occur then the dash lights will not turn on. Try jumpering a wire between these two wires and the lights should come on. If this occurs then a contact within the switch is problematic or the panel light control within the headlight switch is the culprit (much more likely). If either is the case, then a fairly simple rewiring would cause the dash lights to work, but the lighting level would be at a fixed brightness with no dimming ability possible. Jumpering Red/Black to Red/Green would be how it's done.
