Reuilt motor woes/.

so. for the past week or so ive been fighting with my motor to start. Which we finally did by pushing it with another car. We did that a couple times and let it sit idling at 2k with something propped on the throttle.

It does not hold its own idle. it WILL if you leave it sometimes but as soon as you start revving it stops holding idle and dies.

flashforward to today, i walked outside. got in and turned the key and it started right up. This is the first time it has done it on its own. Idled at 1.5k I revved it a bit to 4 then let off and it held still. Then revved to 3k, let off and no more idle. it wont start on its own anymore and i dont know where to go next. I could push start agian but i want to fix that idle issue. I know i dont have any leaks from what ive checked.

I dont know if my springs a nd seals have settled just yet niether so maybe thats still the issue

yea. It started right up this morning. After i deflood it it cranks really strong then slowly dies down so that the car doesnt start at all.

Did you build it? What did you replace on it?

A local rebuilt it. He has a good rep and alot of experienced. We used leftover parts from his kits.

New Springs, Taller corner seals, O rings. Reused apex seals as they were still within spec.
I had very good compression prior to tearing the motor apart so seals are still good. Maybe not the best in others eyes but it works.

I finally got it to start on its own by adding oil in the bottom plugs. It did not hold idle tho so i had to hold the accel.

Taller corner seals?

Did the apex seals go back in the same spots they came out of?

how about the side seals? New or used in the same spots?

Let it run around 2k for awhile again then do a compression test. If compression was good before the tear down and you reused your apex seals then compression SHOULD still be good IMHO. If not then maybe everything isnt within spec or just needs more time to run? Or you need to fiddle with stuff and also check for vacuum leaks.
