86 n/a vs S4 T2
OK... how can i make my car as fast as a series 4 turbo 2?
I've got mild mods right now. What can i do (besides internal porting) to make my car as fast as the T2?
Other than what's in my sig i also have removed all the carpet and sound dedning Tar.. and i am working on emissions equipment this weekend...
I 'had' an 86 GXL. But everything i've taken out it's near the weight of a base.. i think

You need porting, and lots of other mods. You can port match the manifolds, port the TB, get a cool air intake, get an S-AFC to lean out the mixture, but you'll still be very hard pressed to beat a TII without internal porting.
Oh yeah, you should definitely switch to an RB header instead of that crappy manifold.

in a recent thread about wether to EMS or carb a 13b

nice...nice
I am trying to get the most power from my stock port FC././ before i port it. I'm guessing maybe around 190-200 (flywheel) before internal portwork.
Remember all i want is to be able to keep up with a STOCK S4/S5 T2

So all you need is low 15's then to match stock TII performance. You can port the manifolds, throttle body, black plastic elbow, airflow meter, do a real cold air intake routed from the brake duct to get some real air pressure when airflow is going over the car, etc. Exhaust is also necessary and I would recommend a header for sure.

1) Get some headers(RB is good
) get a pre-silencer with the H- fitting for the auxilary port and some straight through mufflers(gonna be loud though) 2) Some pineapple racing sleeves
3) Port match all the manifolds
4) TB mod and porting
5) Plastinc elbow smoothing
6) Cool/ram air intake
7) Buy a manual rack(the are lighter than the PS racks)
8) Buy a FC hood from fc3s.org (21 lbs)
9) Go over to pre-mix (makes you run a bit leaner and is better for your engine)
10) S-AFC and some dyno time will net you some extra pony powah!

11) a light flywheel and a street/comp clutch
Or if you have the cash instead of the S-AFC buy an LT8 so you can run some other kind of throttle bodies with more flow.

EDIT: if you really want to go all out the BBS wheels from the vert only weigh about 11 or 12 pounds a peice so that would reduce rotational mass a bit some sport or racing seats Forzas only weight about 16 or 17 pounds each.

I dont know if this would require extreme measures. When my car was NA, I raced my friends S4 T2 (perfect condition, stock) and it was dead even until the end of third when I would ever so slowly get away. Mods were CS exhaust, midpipe, TB mod, removed 6 ports & airpump. The car had 14" wheels and no power accesories (still doesnt). My car didnt feel quite as fast as his (lack of torque I guess) but did fairly well.
