86 N/A Manual Trans in 86 TII
I have an 86 N/A with a manual trans that needs a ton of work and there is an 86 TII near me which I am thinking about picking up only it is automatic. Is it possible to swap the manual trans in the n/a with the auto in the TII? I want to keep the TII rear beacuse of the lsd and such.
Sorry if this is already covered in the FAQ or on the forum but I could only find information about a TII manual in a N/A (not the other way around).

The TII 5-speed is significantly beefier than the NA 5-speed. I would find a TII trans before I'd try to swap in an NA trans.
In addition, the flywheel is different, which means the clutch and front-end counterweight are different, which means... ummm, a lot of work.
I think the transmissions are also different lengths, which means a different driveshaft.
Make sure it's a TII and not just a GLX with a TII hood before you buy it. Not a bad idea if the seller is claiming it's an auto 86 TII - especially in Arizona.
