86 N/A- 3inch neck cone filter, bolt on or no?
I have already searched and found conflicting answers!
Once the stock airbox is removed from an 86 N/A, what is the diameter of the piece on the MAF to which I will be attaching it???
It's dark now, if nobody replies I guess i'll just take everything out and measure it after I hand in my assignment tomorrow.

On my 87 FC I used the HKS adaptor and it was 2 3/4 in.. I have been told that the S5's don't need the adaptor but I can't say for sure as I have never owned one.

Had to order my K&N from Nopionline.com.. could not find anyone that sold those local for a decent price.

Cheers for the info guys.
That works out to about 40 Australian dollars for the part, probably another 10 in shipping although I haven't checked.
I think I will just knock up an adapter from whatever the hell I can find that is weather, wear and melt proof.
Does it get too hot around there for a great big piece of rubber I wonder.
It's either that or I will somehow have to find an intake that fits.

Man wrote up a big post and then it only posted the picture.. strange.. Anyway I don't feel like typing it again. So here is the jist of what I wrote before.
I don't think you will find one that fits without the adaptor because you are going to have just a hole to work with.
Check ebay for cheaper ones. I don't trust the filters they sell thou but the adaptor will work the same.
The filter doesn't add much performance without exhaust mods. Maybe 1hp or so. Looks cool thou.
I heard that with the S4 like we have leave the MAF sensor level the way the factory installed it. I guess there is some mechanical part in there that gets messed up if it's on it's side like a lot of peeps like to mount it.
If you do the mod and you keep the airpump like I did then get a breather filter to plug the hole in the airpump.
Peep the pic. Damn I never noticed all the dirt in my car. Better clean it.
