86 GXL or sport options help

I found an 86 in the bone yard today with four pot alum front calipers and vented rear rotors. but no decal on fender,so i am assuming it is a sport model. Does anyone know if it also had lsd and an allum. hood? this one also had a sunroof,in case that helps id it. they pulled the wheels so it is sitting on rotors so i cannot spin the wheels to id it, anyone know for sure what were the options on the 86 sport or gxl? thanks

If it has cruise and power windows and AAS(auto adjust suspension in console) it is a gxl, otherwise its probably a sport. If it has any of those little gray/black plastic/rubber aero patrts on it(rear flap wing thingy, mudflap looking deals before adn after each wheel)it is probably a sport. Both would have LSD anyway. You can see the tag on the back of the rearend, there are 2 large bolts, on the top one should be a small metal tag saying limites slip differential.

If its got the aero pieces and you don't want them let me know mattk70@hotmail.com Sport model (I have a junk one with those pieces missing) has those, the rear spoiler, 5 lug 15" rims, 4 piston calipers, and the turbo II style aero mirrors, and mud flaps (want those too).

Thanks guys, Sounds like it is a gxl. it has power windows and the wire sensors comming out of the top of the struts. Do not remeber seeing any mud flaps or aero stuff at all . The paint on this car is almost chalk so i guess the gxl decals coud have fallen off .Sounds like i scored a lsd though!! and will grab the front and rear calipers, probably take the rotors for cores and, last question , these will be going on my 89 GTU na should i grab the booster or just measure and make sure they are the same size? i am sure mine is in much better shape than this one on the parts car.Oh and what about the hood? is it alum? Simplest way: Sports will have manual mirrors.

They did not come standard with the LSD, it was an option, but very very rare.

Sunroof and power windows also point towards the car being a GXL.

ok best way to tell if it is a sport or GXL
look for power windows and power door locks and the AAS the GXL will have all those (well he AAS from what I understand not all gxl's have it is an option for them though)

other then that the sport can have most all other options including sunroof, cruise, 15" wheels, A/C, 4 pot breaks, vented rear rotors, and so forth

oh yeah though while I am here there is a connector inside my door up near the window though there is nothing plugged into it does anyone have any idea what that is for?

not quite sure where ur saying it is,but i believe some rex's had illuminated keyhole's,or it could be a plug for a factory alarm. i'm assuming its not your p.w's right?

ALL FC's had door wiring for power windows, power locks, power mirrors, and the door lock switch for security system, whether or not the options were installed. THe wiring harnesses are the same. There fore you could have several unused plugs.

THis is good, because you can usually add stuff, like power mirrors, windows, cruise, etc. to a car that didnt come with it, 90% of the time all the plugs are there, all you have to do is plug in the right equipment.
