86-88 FSM wiring diagram question

On page 50-25 of the "wiring diagram" file from the 86-88 FSM available at www.iluvmyrx7.com, the O2 sensor appears at the lower left portion of the diagram. (I'm sorry, but I can't provide a photo at the moment.)

Now, in physical reality, the actual O2 sensor has only one wire coming off of it.

That wire, as I understand it, and as indicated in the fuel section of the FSM, goes to pin 2D of the ECU. And accordingly, in the wiring diagram, there is a solid-line wire going from the O2 sensor to input 2D.

But, there's something extra going into the O2 sensor in the diagram: a dotted line going over to a ground wire. This dotted line is parallel to the solid line that goes to pin 2D of the ECU, and it is almost directly on top of it, and it leads to the same spot on the O2 sensor.

The knock sensor has a similar dotted ground line going to it.

What is up with these lines? What do they represent?
