don't take the DSM... send it my way
I was just posting on dsmtalk saying I'm debating what project car i want after college, and a DSM might be the way I want to go. Those things can be built so digustingly quick! I want one, but I like my TII as well. Tell him I'll take $1000 plus his car for my TII.

I wanted me a DSM before 90-92 GSX, but ALL WHEEL DRIVE isn't for me nor front
, i love the way i can hang a turn and my car's *** would just slide and it's nothing compare to a ROTARY BABY!.. but their fast though but not fast enough because DSM can SUCK IT!
i got my addiction from my 2.4L 240SX.
but if you like a go-fast straight car, then get it, but if u love your rotary you stay with it.

dsm's are prone to a few issues like a rotary. I know my friends seem to always have something diffrent going on with their awd turbo's .. either it doesn't run the transfer case is messed up you snap an axle from launching to hard.. ect ect it might be fun but it might just break to hehe

If you run 20 PSI on the stock turbo you're ******* yourself, it's only efficient up to 18 PSI, then it just makes a bunch of heat, tell your friend to back off the boost and he'll save his engine from some serious ****.
its a 1990 in great condition rebuilt engine and turbo new clutch interior is bad *** and i was there when it was bought it is just that my friend needs a truck its running 18pds of boost. only thing is 3rd gear syncro and that i hate fwd cars but i told him no and to forget about it. even though i had the intentions of selling after the buy i still love my baby no matter how shitty she is and i love rotary i just cant move on to piston jus like that unless its like a big body benz or sumthin . lol i wish

I work in the service dept. of a Mitsubishi dealership, and I can tell that you have to METICULOUSLY maintain those vehicles, or they WILL break down. The timing belt has to be changed every 60k which is a tough and/or expensive job. Also, the trannies are known to crap out often including the diff. The reason is because people upgrade their clutches and then drop it at 4500 rpm, usually tearing up their trannies in the process. So yes, they are fast and cheap to make fast, but they'll be expensive when you break something, which WILL happen if you plan to race it. Just about everyone I know with an eclipse usually has some sort of problem once they start modifying them.
I think the trannies on the TII can handle the hard launches better as well - since RWD launches are alot easier on the car than an AWD launch.

I'm guessing that you're not mentioning his hairstyle.. :p
Anyway, a friend of mine owned a DSM.. I did a lot of driving him to the shop for transfer case and other drive train problems.. he was very happy to sell it.
reliability is not the greatest strength of a DSM, but then again, neither is it for a 7, so...
sorry to not be so helpfull
