That's funny because the EPA rating on an LS1 in a car that weighs 500 lbs. more than the RX7 is in fact much better than the 13Bs EPA rating. Weird how that works.

Make sure your car is in decent running order, then you'll probably get 15mpg at worst.

And don't bitch about gas prices, gas broke the $2.50 mark a while ago here.

you own a rotary, you're not entitled to complain about gas mileage

thats like an SUV owner complaining about gas

take pride in how many gallons per mile the rotary takes

i dont know how they come to those numbers. my friend had a dodge dakota that he tried and tried and couldnt match the gas it was supposed to get. i know another guy who has an '03 cobra which seems to hover around the 13.3mpg zone (no matter how he drives, quote unquote). they probably get those numbers since a v8s normal driving rpm is around 1700-2000rpm. as for me, thats about bogging. i believe the most efficient an engine runs is at its peak torque; assuming thats true (and i wasnt lied to ), look where v8's peak torque hits and where rotaries' (and small displacement engines) peak torque is.

my TPS was WAY off once. i was getting 13-15mpg (91 na). after it was adjusted, i saw 19+.

i paid 1.90/gal for 87 tonight. i believe our minimum wage is at $5.25/hr, but i'm really not sure.

the ls1 is rated good cause the automatic transmission keeps the rpms at 1500 unless ur spinning the tires. if a rotary could put out enough torque at that rpm I bet we would have decent gas milleage. my buddie's miata that's supposed to get 40mpg freeway only got 20 on his 1000 mile roadtrip. EPA ratings are the best possible, not what you will actually get.

I highly doubt that your car is running right. I wouldn't listen to the people that say its normal...I mean 7.8 miles per gallon!? I get 24 mpg highway and around 17 city. I would check the oxy sensor and its connection, then plugs and plug wires. Something is DEFINATLY wrong.
