Renesis transmission should bolt up fine with just a custom clutch(unless the splines are the same too) where the shifter will pop up though is anyones guess.

I've seen a couple people mount sequencials in skylines and supras but never heard of anyone selling them other than making it custom.. anyone heard different???
And for those that dont know what sequencial is, its like a bike tranny the gear selection goes up or down instead of an H pattern.

it's fine, you just have no syncro's helping you. Not all dog engagement type gear boxes are straight cut, so it doesnt necessarily have to be loud / whiny. Having straight cut gears is nice though as it reduces the axial loading of the gears/shafts/bearings, and reduces frictional losses through the gearbox. The major drawback I personally see with such a setup is most of these have gear ratios that end with 1:1 in either 5th or 6th for the 6 speed. This is great for racing but if you want to take your car on a trip it will be like cruising in 4th gear at speed with your stock trans, fuel economy will be horrible and you'll be in high rpm for very long durations when it really is not necessary.
Guru racing has a straight cut dog engaged kit for the turbo2 box which has a .8:1 5th gear (overdrive), this would probably be the ideal straight cut dog engaged setup for street use.
If you've ever ridden a crotch rocket you've already used a straight cut dog engaged gear box.

I guess that's the problem with losing your old school members. You lose a lot of good data. The T56 will mount up to the 13b with an adaptor plate and a custom prop shaft. The company that was making the adaptor plate was kennedy engineering. I don't remember where they are from or know if they are still in business. Good Luck.

a crash box style dog engaged trans is not good for the street because they dont last long!!! i think i read somewhere about Jerico racing trans(s)?, the maker of racing syncroless dog boxes, even they say they are only good for a a few thousand shifts like 2000 or 3000. If you think about it, thats not very many.
Im remembering this off the top of my head, id like to back this up but the jerico site is down right now.

dog boxes have dog rings. using the clutch wears them out faster. you're supposed to shift without pressing the clutch. its just there for starting.
