6 port sleeves

i have an 87 na that wont idle and doesnt have the sleeves in the engine, the dealer is saying that that might be the problem but some people are saying that those wont cause any problems at all. can anyone clear this up for me

You will loose low end power and torque without them functioning correctly.

No other option, no other alternative. Without them you will accelerate slower.

It won't cause an idle problem. Have you looked for a vacuum leak or intake leak?

yeah there was a vac leak but i was just wondering what they did exactly cuz they are missing on my car

They control flow through the 5/6 ports. (aux ports)

When closed they do not allow air into the aux ports and allow for better low end power and torque. When open they provide late timing for extra power. By not having them you, in some peoples opinion, eek out a bit more power on the top end by sacrificing the low end.

If you don't plan on racing everywhere, it could be benificial to put some back in and get them to operate properly.
