Well.. the RX8 6 spd and the new miata 6 spd trannies are virtually the same aren't they?

I've heard of a guy putting a miata 6spd in his FB... but why?

Simply putting in a 6spd is NOT going to let you beat an NSX. 3rd gens have a hard time taking them stock.... so... yeah.

With the 6spd... you're just going to be shifting more often... (i.e. less actual accelerating).

Let's put it this way... a NSX runs what... 13.8 stock with street tires and a good driver.

There are like MAYBE 3 N/As on this site that go that fast... .and they aren't all that streetable.

And a 6spd isn't going to change any of that.

Dude you gotta SHIFT MAD QUICK YO!!! to be with teh TYTE Honduh NSEXXYYY!!

a 6 Speed is just going to space your gearing closer together. It will DO NOTHING on a NA GTU. You WILL get beaten to a pulp.

Drop in a turbo engine and d some mods and keep the 5 speed TII tranny and you''' be set to hang with them or beat them.

seriously this is one of the worst questions ive read in a long time. na's do not go 'fast'. doesnt matter if you have an 8spd tranny your not going to beat a nsx or even come close without a turbo, bottom line.

You want my serious advice? Your best bet without spending a ton is to get an N2O system. Make sure you also run an upgraded fuel pump and SAFC for safety. Good luck. And to all those who are acting like the NSX is god...its not that fast.

a better choice would be to get a level 10 auto tranny and a turbo engine. that tranny will get you moving quicker and shift faster than any person can

You want my real advice on how to make your FC beat an NSX?

Take the FC apart, sell the pieces.
Buy the pieces of a Suzuki Hayabusa. Rebuild the Hayabusa with Mazda and RX-7 on it.
Whip the *** of anything that challenges you. The only thing fast enough to keep up with a Hayabusa... is a Hayabusa.

Sorry, that's not why people have 6 speeds. 6 speeds come in two types, for the most part: 4 speed double overdrive, or 5 speed single overdrive. Generally, 4 speed-double overdrive cars have more power, letting them overcome the difference in the ratios between gears. The reason for having more speeds is to keep the engine in it's powerband for longer. If you have a very narrow powerband (i.e. S2K), you want lots of gears. Cars like this tend not to have rediculous amounts of power, or they're not streetable. Take, on the other hand, a '70 LS6 Chevelle. Figure it's got a little work done, and it's pushing about 500 hp to the wheels. If it's a drag car, it's probably running a 2 speed Powerglide. Yes. 2 speed. Why? Because that car's powerband covers about 4k RPMs, and it has the torque to overcome a large gear split.
