5th and 6th ports frozen shut after 20 miles, carbon buildup?

I noticed last week that my 5th and 6th ports were stuck closed, I couldn't even open them up with pliers. Anyways, I only had 20 miles on the motor, and the sleeves were virtually brand new and shiny when they went it.

So upon taking the manifold back off and pulling out the sleeves, this is what I found....

And this is what my intake runners look like, the outside ones are filty, they were like that when I took the mani off the other motor, and it seems something is still causing this problem, with the new motor. Here's a pic...

So I took a look of the 5th and 6th port sleeves I removed from the other motor, and they were extremely crusty, while original ones I took from my new motor, just had normal buildup on them, and looked fine. But the new ones I put in my new motor have been caked with buildup after 20 miles....the only thing I can think of is that I was using a lot of starting fluid at first to get the motor running, and that was the only time I would've had fuel coming through that area, since my '85 does not have secondary injectors, just the primaries on the motor itself.

Anyone have any clue? BTW, posting here for better response, since you all have 6 port motors.

Define "lots" of starting fluid. If you thoroughly soaked, it is entirely possibel that the buildup you are looking at is dried/thickened starting fluid. The active chemicals evaporated, leaving the sludge. But this is just a guess...

Carbon is naturally caused by intake reversion, but I can't see a 20 mile engine having that much of a buildup.

You know, I sort of lost the original DivX copies, so there doesn't seem to be much chance of making any new versions. I thought I had put them on CD so I deleted from my HD. Big mistake...

I used over a can of staring fluid(small can) when we were initially trying to get the car running, and some every so often when it was hard to start. So I dunno....right now, they wired open so I can make sure that it was causing my problem....although after putting it together last night, I think I have a vac leak somewhere, but I ran out of the light, so decided to wait until today to pick it back up.
