5th and 6th ports

I dont know much abou the 13b but i know that its a six port... right? But how are they controled cause i herd that they aretime controled or somethin, im just kinda confused. So if one of you could please explain them to me that would be great. Also are there any advantages to closing them off because ive herd of some people doing that

On your S5 they are controlled by the top front solenoid on the driver's side solenoid rack.
The air pump & ACV provide the pressure.
The ECU sends a ground signal the solenoid at ~3800RPM.
