I just got my 5th and 6th ports working. I was pretty pleased to find an easy solution that seems to work very well. I'm not sure if someone else has posted this exact info before, but this is what worked for me, so I thought I'd share.

For those of you that are too lazy to click the link, I'll just post the steps I took to get them functioning.

1. Confirmed that my actuators were indeed frozen.

2. Removed actuators in order to free up the shafts. (Take caution, as the gaskets are pretty old)

3. Once actuators were working to my satisfaction I re-installed them.

4. Smeared a little Hi-temp grease on the actuator shafts, near the bottom.

5. Took the car out for a really good romp.

6. Found that grease had not moved.

7. Took a length of vacuum hose and attached it to the actuator port(s) nipple.

8. Blew really hard into hose, and watched the actuators open.

9. I then knew that for some reason, the actuators were not getting enough backpressure.(even with a stock exhaust.)

10. I then left the hose attached to the actuator nipple, then placed a straight barbed connector into the ACV dump tube, and then connected the other end of the vacuum line to it.

11. Took her back out for another romp.

12. Success!!!!!!!!

13. Ports now open at correct rpm's

Anyway, I don't know if anyone will find this useful as I have it written, If someone else can do a better job a making this clear, please do. I know I would have loved to have found this info a week ago.
The link above, has a bunch of pictures showing different ways to make the ports open, but IMHO, I would think that this would be the esiest and most reliable.

It has been found that using the ACV dump tube isn't you best bet, as it doesn't always open at the proper RPM.

 

Really? It seemed to work fairly well, of course I din't really do any extensive testing though. Could you elaborate a bit more? Thanks for the tip. I'm going to go out tommorow and do quite a few runs, then see where I am in terms of actual rpms.

 

I guess mine aren't working, but testing them doesn't really show me anything. how easy should the ports be to open by hand? I can open them, but it takes some force.

 

I am thinking this is one of the easiest solutions. Does the ACV system work without air pump? Any more replies of why nots or other reasons why so many threads of the compresser fix, and what about the last idea from fc3 the eclectronic actuater

 

anyone know or have any pics of the acv dump tube. I having a problem figure out which one it is.

 

Umm, it's NOT the one coming from the airpump. It's the other one...
