5sp idle fluctuates in gear only

I just finished swapping in a TII drivetrain in my convertible. Started it up, runs just fine in neutral. As soon as I put it in gear, the idle starts bouncing. Any gear at all. Clutch hydraulics are properly bled, and the clutch IS disengaging (no pulling forward with the clutch pedal in, or difficulty going into gear). Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Sounds like the neutral switch is masking a TPS issue while out of gear. It adjusts idle speed when engaged. Test the TPS and see if it's out of adjustment.

Couldn't believe I fell into that trap! A little story:

I just finished the TII swap in my vert, and started it up. Idled great. I fixed a few things here and there, like the meter fuse being blown (unknown reason, but it seems to happen some times when people change engines) low coolant buzzer, etc. I get in the car to move it, the idle sucks when I put it in gear. The car smoked too. BAD. But idled fine. I thought the PO (of that engine) had it properly adjusted. I was wrong.

Today, I made all the adjustments. Idle speed, tps, timing. Purrrrrrrs, no smoke! Even in gear.

Now, all I need is some 2.5" silicone couplers before I can actually test drive it. Still waiting on the ones I ordered Right now, I'm rocking duct tape, just so I could get it started

But thanks for the help. I didn't know a neutral switch could mask tps issues like that.
