575rwhp and fully streetable?

This is from my hometown. Some friends told me about this car. There is another car running 680rwhp at about the same 28-30psi. I am trying to find out about the engine combination but more to come on that. A lot of guys would say that 28lbs of boost is not "streetable", but....

What are the opinions here? Halfbridge, streeport, ????

Is this realistic, or has this guy put down $20K-$30K in this engine?
This shop has a few 7 second 13B 1/4 mile cars.

if by streetable you mean driving across the street to your trailer. Anything past 300hp puts you in questionable streetable status more so in the police not liking your ride/exhaust. Anything above 400hp is really pushing the limits in terms of low end torque/mileage/legal status. 500hp+ and you are talking crazy huge ports and/or crazy huge turbos which nobody wants to deal with daily. Sure you might be able to drag it out once or twice on the freeway but its definitely way too much power to have any sort of fun at street speeds.

edit: 28psi is gonna be laggy unless you have some hyper triple quad ball bearing turbo spooled by a turbine

Why do people swear that the rotary motor is a bomb when modified? Its not the car its the driver!!!!! If your launching every block and driving with the heaviest foot on the planet than any car will blow! WOW low end torque? Driveabilty? Please. The only thing that happens to these motors that makes them "blow" is the apex seals. OVer heating, worn oil seals, and bad fuel will cause these motors to pop not "just because it has an X amount of power" If the motor is well maintained and driven with respect no one can give a time limit on the motor. GROW UP AND STOP BEING MAGAZINE TUNERS!!!! I love Rx7s

Not sure how that car did that. It doesnt seem like the engine is revving high enough to gauge HP.

yes it's streetable and yes prepare to spend a load of cash to get your car above the 400 or even 500WHP marks. i have built some close to that that are daily driven and one has dumped about $20k into the car over the past 2 years, 1/4 of that into tires... lol, then again he is only pushing 15PSI, 28 is a bit insane for everyday driving unless you have a fat wallet.

Streetable is all about your opinion. Much like most everything in the world really. There's no set limit in saying Xhp is no longer streetable, thats just ridiculous.

Whether or not to drive the car on the street is determined by a variety of variables. While you make a valid point, it does become silly beyond a point to be driving the car on the street. Porting does affect how long an engine lasts, everyone knows that. The difference between you and the majority of the people who have a high hp rotarty, is that they don't mind dealing with the downsides. It's better to accept them than to deny there are any.

streetability has more to do with driver skill and maturity than it does with power level.

my car used to have 575 whp and I drive it all over the place. I havent dyno'd the new setup yet, but considering it gets sideways in 5th gear, I'd say its more like 625 now.

Its all about how good you are at driving, and how well your car is set up. My car is tuned on purpose to be streetable- if i stay out of boost it is mild mannered and gets reasonable fuel economy.

WOW, it looks like I have opened a good subject here. OK, the music sucks, but that does not take away from the video. He might be running on 114octane for the dyno pull, but it is still a daily driver and runs on pump gas regularly.
A street car for me is one that you can fill up at your gas station, drive 30 or more miles to work and be able to withstand stop and go traffic in the city.

As far as I know Puerto Rico has the fastest rotary powered cars in the US. There are plenty of cars running this numbers on pump gas and every day driving. There is a lot of good rotary knowledge and many good projects.

I just wish I had $20K to put down on an 13B and a turbo the size of a dumpster. Glad you all enjoyed the video.

You do know that Puerto Rico is a US territory, right? So he can say that.
