50 series tire on 15'' rim to small?

. My 89 gxl has the stock 15x6.5'' rim, and has 205x60x15 on it now. which need to be replaced.. There are alot more tire options in a 50 series rather than the 55 or 60. And they tend to be cheaper. comments? should I stay with a 60?

can you safely fit anything over 205 on a 6.5 inch wide rim, isnt 7 inch standard for 205 I heard that the wider the tire the more possibility of a blow out.

i don't think there is that big of a difference for a blowout if properly inflated.....

but the wider tires tend to ride softer and create a little body roll once they exceed the width of the rim. That is why high-performance cars normally come with tires that are equal to the rim's width (ie Corvette).

The stock tires fit the rims nicely, but look like pizza cutters b/c they are so narrow.....185/70/14, 195/65/15, 205/55/16

narrow tires to give better handling without any improvements to the suspensions. Cheap way to improve things all around....

It varies based on Tire manufacture, but Falken (who I use for performance tires) says that 225 will fit in a 6 wide inch wheel.

So 225 on a 6.5 inch wheel should be fine.

Thanks for all of the info. Can anyone get a picture of this? Does the smaller tire look out of place?

Btw, I just relized the stock S5 gxl wheel, is actually 6'' wide. Is a 205 the widest tire you can fit?

And 225's max on the vert wheels? Iv heard of rubbing with 225's up front? is that a myth?
