5 sp swap.

I am really starting to consider swapping in a 5 sp for my Autmatic. I have never driven a 5 spd and would be learning. Question is, while I am down there switching out parts, what kind of clutch/ flywheel , could I purchase new for it to handle more abuse sence obviously I will not have perfects shift? Its and 87 n/a. Will getting a different stage clutch help? OR just make shifting harder ?

Doing the hole switch, how hard do you think it is for someone with minor mechanical skills? Is it a weekend job?

from a scale 1-10 ten being hard?

I have printed direction from the search engine just wanted different opinions on the hole process.

for your first time, it would be more like a week long job...

as far as i know, you'd need the clutch lines, master cylinder, slave, transmission, driveshaft, pedal assembly, incl brake pedal, clutch kit, flywheel, and counterweight (i think)...Oh...transmission mount also...

how about you just get the stock flywheel and stock clutch
your cars stock right? no point getting any upgraded stage clutch to kill your na tranny
worry about making a bracket for it to work
view attached...

be sure to weld it... it wasnt welded yet in that picture because i was still test fittign it....

weld both sides, add triangle pieces, reweld, make ti as strong as you can

Gotcha. I am not set on doing this yet. I have posted in forums for individual in ohio for anyone who has done it and could help out. I got toold and air compressor and such and welder too so no biggy there. I just dont have the knowledge to do it right.

I was only looking to get a staged or upgraded clutch / flywheed cuase i figured they could take more abuse. Sence I would be learning to drive a 5 sp on it for the first time. And yes the N/A is stock except for the 2.5 full exhaust and K&n filter.

what you could do
buy a neutral balanced flywheel... that way you acn keep that auto counterweight that you have
it is only 150

buy a complete stock clutch kit, thats about 150

300 on the clutchand flywheel + 100 on lines, master/slave + 50 on driveshaft + 75 on na tranny + 25 on starter

instead of listen to soemone who have never done it before and tell you to buy counterweight and tranny mount that wont work...

use what i said as a reference, and read kevin lander's guide as your bible
